Privacy Policy — StonkRider data, cookies & analytics

How playstonkrider.com handles your data: no accounts and no personal information collected, only local game settings and standard anonymized web analytics.
Jun 12, 2026

The short version

StonkRider is a free browser game. You don't create an account, we don't ask for your name or email, and the game works the same whether we know who you are or not — which is why we never ask. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what is and isn't collected when you ride.

This policy applies to playstonkrider.com (the "site"). It does not cover other websites we link to, which have their own policies.

What we collect

Nothing personal, directly

There is no registration, no login, and no forms that ask for personal information. We never ask for your name, email, address, or payment details, because the game doesn't need them.

Gameplay state

Settings such as your last selected ticker or your sound preference may be stored in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings. Clearing it simply resets the game to defaults.

Analytics

We use standard web analytics — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — to understand which charts people ride, which pages are popular, and where the game can be improved. These tools collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited, approximate region (derived from IP, not your precise location), device and browser type, referring site, and on-page interaction patterns. They operate under their own privacy policies, and we do not see or store your real identity. You can read more at the Google Privacy Policy and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Server logs

Like nearly every website, our server records standard access logs — IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp — for security, abuse prevention, and debugging. Logs are rotated automatically and are not used to build profiles of individuals.

Ticker searches

When you search for a ticker, the symbol you type is sent to our own server so it can fetch that chart's public market data. These searches are used to load the game and to understand which charts are in demand; they are not linked to your identity.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. The site itself does not set advertising cookies of its own. Cookies and similar technologies on this site come from:

  • Analytics (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity), which use cookies and local identifiers to measure usage in aggregate.
  • Advertising, if and when ads are enabled — see the next section.
  • localStorage, which is not technically a cookie but stores your game settings locally as described above.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The game will still run; you may simply lose your saved settings, and analytics will count your visits less precisely.

Advertising

We may display ads to keep the game free. When advertising is enabled, it is served by third-party ad networks — most likely Google AdSense.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
  • Where required, ad personalization is only used with appropriate consent, and you can decline personalized ads without losing access to the game.

We do not share any personal information with advertisers, because we don't collect any. This section will be kept current as advertising goes live.

How long we keep data

We don't keep personal data, because we don't collect it. Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and debugging and are then rotated out. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the providers' own retention settings and policies, linked above.

International data transfers

Our analytics and (eventual) advertising providers are global companies that may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. By using the site you understand that anonymized usage data may be processed in this way, under those providers' own safeguards and policies.

Your privacy choices and rights

Because we don't collect personal information, there is very little about you for us to access, correct, or delete. Even so:

  • You can clear your local game settings any time via your browser.
  • You can block analytics and advertising cookies via your browser settings or the opt-out links above.
  • If you are in a region with privacy laws such as the GDPR (Europe) or CCPA/CPRA (California) and believe we hold information about you, you may contact us and we will respond as those laws require. In most cases the honest answer will be that we hold nothing tied to your identity.

Children

The game is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect any data from children — in fact, we don't collect personal data from anyone. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we'll address it.

The site links to other websites — market-data sources, opt-out pages, our own social posts. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; review their policies separately.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
